A living memorial, part by part.
HaloVase is a handcrafted square glass hydroponic vessel resting on a substantial pedestal. Inside the pedestal, a loved companion’s cremated ashes are placed beneath a layer of fine sea sand. Above, a ring of white light rises through the sand and into clear water, where fine bubbles move and a curly willow grows.

In detail
- The vessel
- A square glass vessel with clean vertical edges. The water is held clear so the light, the bubbles and the roots stay legible from every side.
- The pedestal
- A substantial base, matte and quiet, designed to feel like part of the room rather than an object placed in it. The memorial is held within it.
- The sea sand
- Fine pale sea sand is laid over the ashes inside the pedestal. It diffuses the light into a soft, even glow and keeps what lies beneath it undisturbed.
- The halo
- A circular white light within the base illuminates the vessel from below. It is always white — optically pure, never warm, never coloured.
- Water, nutrients and air
- Hydroponic water and nutrients sustain the willow without soil. Fine air bubbles rise continuously through the water, keeping it moving.
- The willow
- Every HaloVase is planted with curly willow, and only curly willow. It roots in water alone, holds its bare twisting form, and keeps growing — the part of the memorial that changes. There is no plant list and nothing to choose.
- The engraving
- The front glass can be engraved with a name, dates or a short memorial line, positioned so the light from below catches the lettering.
Where the ashes are placed
The cremated ashes are placed inside the pedestal, beneath the sea sand. They remain enclosed within the base. They are not placed in the water and they do not surround the willow roots.

It plays quietly on its own while it is on screen, without sound. The two controls in the corner of the frame pause it and turn the sound on.

The memorial base
A substantial pedestal, quiet and solid. It carries everything above it and holds the memorial within.

The ashes, placed within
Your companion’s cremated ashes rest inside the pedestal — enclosed, private and never on display.

A covering layer of sea sand
Fine, pale sea sand is laid over the ashes. It softens the light and keeps what is beneath it undisturbed.

The circular white light
A ring of pure white light sits within the base and rises through the sand. It is the halo the vessel is named for.

The square glass vessel
Handcrafted glass with clean vertical edges rests above the base, catching light along every corner.
- 06
Hydroponic water and nutrients
Clear water and hydroponic nutrients sustain the plant without soil. The water stays bright and legible.

Aeration
Fine bubbles rise continuously, keeping the water moving and the vessel quietly alive.
- 08
The willow and its roots
Willow roots hang suspended in the water and bare, twisting stems rise above the glass. Every HaloVase is planted with curly willow.

The personalised engraving
A name, dates or a short line, engraved into the front glass and caught by the light from below.
